Shackle is Anne La Berge on flute and electronics and Robert van Heumen on laptop-instrument. Their aim is to explicitly and subtly exploit shackling in both concept and material.

Shackle Tour: Wrapping up

by Robert on October 9, 2012 in category Shackle, Tour AUS-NZ-BRA

Anne is back in Amsterdam now, so it’s time for a wrap-up. The Shackle Tour to New Zealand, Australia, and Brazil was a great succes! Our performances were received very well and judging from the responses after workshops and concerts I believe we inspired quite a few people. We hope to meet you again sometime somewhere.

We met a lot of lovely folks, stayed in their houses, had some great meals and wonderful conversations. Without you we wouldn’t have been able to organize our trip around the world. We’d like to thank all of you! You know who you are, but I’ll try to make a complete list: Zoe Drayton, Jeff Henderson (Auckland, NZ), Dugal McKinnon (Wellington, NZ), Donna Hewitt & Julian Knowles, Mike Howlett, Phil Graham (Brisbane AUS), Christian Haines & his mom, Stephen Whittington (Adelaide, AUS), Janet McKay, Patrick & Judy Nolan (Brisbane, AUS), Susannah Provan, Adrian Sherriff, Sean Baxter (Melbourne, AUS), Laura Altman, Maria & David Altman, Ian Stevenson, Michael Smetanin, Jeremy Tatar, Cor Fuhler & Anna McMichael (Sydney), Raquel Dammous, Juliano Gentile, Luca Panhota Alves, Tiago de Mello (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Lucas Rodrigues Ferreira, Jonatas Manzolli and José Mannis (Campinas, Brazil), Eduardo Monteiro and Rodrigo Cicchelli Velloso (Rio, Brazil), Cees de Bever, Carolyn Muntz, Performing Arts Fund NL (back home) and of course all workshop participants and the people who came to hear us play! Last but not least (oh no no no) our families and friends back at the ranch for taking care of the herd!

Back to ‘normal life’ now. That’ll be a challenge.

Shackle Tour: The end

by Anne on October 2, 2012 in category Shackle, Tour AUS-NZ-BRA

We ended our around-the-world tour on a great note with an hour long set at the Centro Cultural São Paulo. Robert flew off to Amsterdam and I continued on to give more Converging Objects workshops at UNICAMP in Campinas. It’s quite a job explaining the other half of Shackle and the Shackle system without him!

Shackle Tour: A workshop and concert at CCSP in São Paulo

by Robert on October 1, 2012 in category Shackle, Tour AUS-NZ-BRA

On Sept 27 we workshopped at the Centro Cultural São Paulo. The first lesson was in building up and breaking down your setup, thanks to the jackhammer workers upstairs 😉 Nevertheless we had a great time. In the evening we performed a 1-hour-set, which was a first. Soon we’ll post excerpts of our tour concerts.

Many thanks to Raquel Dammous and Juliano Gentile for making this all possible!

Shackle Tour: A radio concert in São Paulo

by Robert on September 27, 2012 in category Shackle, Tour AUS-NZ-BRA

We presented a playlist of Shackle and invidual works plus performed a live set at the Mobile Radio BSP programme OIDARADIO. Beautiful environment to play, in the pavillion of the 30th São Paulo biennial. With the sounds of the audio-visual installations in the background, we played a 50-minute live set. Check the OIDARADIO mixcould website for the audio stream of the concert. Thanks to Nick Graham-Smith, Knut Aufermann and Bruno Pallazzo.
